What You'll Learn in this Lesson

In this section, we talk about the balance that occurs between the amount of reactants and the amount of products that results after time. We discuss how reactions proceed when they are not at this equilibrium point, as well as how this equilibrium point is affect by temperature. Finally, we survey all the different equilibrium constants throughout chemistry, such as Ka, Kb, Kw, Ksp, Keq, and explain how the Law of Mass Action allows us to calculate how much reactants or products exist given a particular equilibrium point.
