In this section, we explain how the transfer of electrons from one atom to another is related to the field of electrochemistry and how those electrons can be harnessed to create electricity. We introduce the concepts of EMF and reduction potential, and explain how they are used in calculations of how much electricitiry is produced in elctrochemical cells. Finally, we explore the connection between electrochemistry and thermochemistry.
