What You'll Learn in this Lesson

In this section, we talk about the two types of eletrochemical cells that can be used to take advantage of the electron transfers of redox reactions. The relevant terminology (such as cathode, anode, electrode, EMF, etc.) is defined and explained. We also present diagrams of galvanic and electrolytic cells, talk about their differences, including explaining the purpose of the salt bridge, and described what happens in the system as they operate.
